poetry as “visual invitation”

In her blog post “On and Off the Page: atypical poetries,” CGU graduate student Emily Schuck puts my woven poetry work in conversation with Eminem, T.S. Eliot, and Phillip B. Williams — pretty great!

“The first thing you think,” [Kaplan] said, “when you see these poems isn’t ‘I have to figure out what this means.’ It’s just ‘I have to look at it.’” Her work is a visual invitation that inspires a curiosity and eagerness to read from a broad audience.
